A Daily Prayer

So I have started writing a post numerous times but every time I just get so tired that I never get to finish it. This is not that post. That one will come. 🙂 Sometime…

I have had a lot on my mind lately and this prayer by Matt Chandler has been one that I have said often:

“My prayer, then is, ‘Lord, help me rejoice in You in this moment. Because I know You are in control. I know You love me; I know You love my family. And I don’t understand what You’re doing, and I don’t know how things are going to work out. But help me to acknowledge that if I have You, I have everything.'”  -Matt Chandler, To Live is Christ, to Die is Gain

I love that quote. I say it to remind myself that it’s okay not to know how it’s going to work out. I remind myself that God’s love is unchanging, undying, and he won’t leave me. I remind myself that his sovereignty is my hope and that somehow, with Christ, there IS a way to rejoice and find that hope in the midst of difficulties.

And that’s what I have for you today. That, and this beautiful song to encourage you to find your hope in Christ and what he has done for you.

 

Merry Christmas

I’m posting this video in honor of David. He calls this the ‘baby song.’ I miss that boy but I’m leaving in 5 hours to go home! I hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!

 

A Thankful Heart

 

I feel very thankful right now and I think that’s a problem.

I think we have this idea that thankfulness is a feeling.  When things go our way, when we get what we want, we are then thankful.  I don’t think that is God’s idea of thankfulness.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  1 Thess. 5:18

Oh, it’s so easy to be thankful when we are feeling blessed and loved, when someone does something extra special for you, when you get to visit your family for thanksgiving.  But God calls us to be thankful in all circumstances. When we are homesick or lonely, when our car breaks down, when you receive an unkind look from someone.  That’s when it’s hard to be grateful.  I think it’s a conscious choice we must make. We must DECIDE to be thankful. Are you a saved son or daughter of the King? Then you always have an amazing reason to be thankful to our Savior!  You always have a reason to be joyful and full of gratitude!  No matter what is going on around you, you are blessed beyond belief!

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for sanctification. I am thankful for God’s ever-loving hand that teaches me and brings me constantly closer to Him. I am thankful for the hard lessons that cause me to love Him more. I am thankful for His grace in my life.
